The launch that almost didn't ship

Global Endpoints started as a whiteboard sketch about failover and ended as a generally available feature. The middle is the interesting part.

The bet

The bet was that customers would trade a little complexity for the confidence that their events keep flowing when a region has a bad day. Conviction is easy on the whiteboard. It gets tested the first time the design meets a real customer's mental model.
